Chopper Spirals Uncontrollably into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Coast
A chopper soaring above a well-attended California coastline abruptly commenced twirling wildly, finally losing altitude and smashing into a cluster of palm groves as spectators observed.
Videos posted on social media capture the chopper beginning to twirl above the shoreline then falling in the direction of the perimeter of the beach, where it gets stuck among palms and a steps near the Pacific Coast highway.
Rescue Operation Update
The Huntington Beach fire department stated five persons were taken to hospital comprising two who were in the aircraft and were “rescued from the debris” following the accident on that day.
Three persons on the pavement were injured. Details on their condition were not yet released.
What led to the incident was not yet disclosed.
Planned Function
The department said the aircraft was associated with an yearly “Cars N Copters” fundraising event planned for Sunday.
