Ex-Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has denied raping two women and sexually assaulting a third woman.

The international football star entered denials to five counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault when he appeared at Southwark Crown Court.

The reported offences were said to have happened between 2021 and 2022, when the professional athlete regularly played in the Premier League. He was formally accused four days after leaving the London-based team, following the conclusion of his playing agreement at the end of June.

Mr Partey was released on conditional bail until his court case, which is scheduled to begin at the identical venue on 2 November next year.

He spoke to confirm his name before denying all charges to each of the charges made against him.

The professional player, who now plays La Liga club Villareal, was present in the UK as his current club played Spurs in the European competition on this week. He came on as a replacement in what resulted in a narrow defeat for his side.

The terms of his release do not restrict Mr Partey from playing football, but he must inform authorities of any international travel one day in advance and must not contact the alleged victims.
